Rules: The car/truck had to be sold brand new in 1928
I would buy the facelift 1928 Chrysler Imperial 80. Guaranteed to run at 80mph with a 100hp 309 cubic inch engine this beauty was one of the fastest vehicles on the road when it was produced. Soon to be outshined however, by another American automobile...

Your comments are not grey on Oppositelock so you should have authorship. But this is more of a question for the Mods on the page I will share your post so they can see it.

I have no say over the matter you would have to talk to one of them.

Here is a post where you might be able to contact a mod and discuss if you should get authorship.

You can mention the Club Openings tag for anyone looking for authorship. No reason to share to the FP.

Just like how every other car that was on the road with Duesenbergs were in fact inferior automobiles.

Wrong! The Duesy wasn’t even at the auto show until the last week of December in 1928. Therefore I disqualify your answer.

I missed the whole fiasco, but - short summary - apparently Bryce Hemelrick made a post referring to a BMW with a V6 (not I6). People started making fun of him, he dismissed 3+ comments, ADMY caught him ought... and he claimed ignorance/kinja. While it would have been almost plausible to dismiss accidentally once, three times with claimed ignorance in the face of a mod
and then immediately afterward claiming he didn’t know how he lost authorship
does rather cast a question over his innocence and truthfulness. He has since then been spamming the authorship thread with his main account, and most recently is attempting to ban-evade as above.
()
What clued me in (I wouldn’t have even known) was going to his new account’s comment history and seeing repeated calls for authorship, *everywhere*, and a reply from Brian “We can see your IP address, Bryce”. Oy.

I didn’t know you weren’t allowed to dismiss comments. That seems kinda weird but whatever I never do anyway.

Good news is they made the Duesy for so long I can pick it another time! Besides before the Duesy this one of best cars in America you could buy if you wanted unbridled speed.

He doesn’t appear to be jdentarol, but he absolutely was clamoring for authorship on jdentarol’s blogs, because he’s very immature and MUST AUTHORSHIP. I think the rule on dismissing is that only violation of the rules/outright malicious abuse would qualify, but I’m not sure - probably buried in GameCat’s rules post somewhere.

This probably isn’t the car the 1928 me would buy, but it sure as hell is the current me’s favorite 1928 car on the planet at the moment. I’ve been drooling over it on Hemmings for a couple months now. it is perfect is every way. If I was to draw up my dream hot rod, this is it. So much HNNGGG!

Oh I see that makes a bit more since. Either way if you need authorship that bad maybe he needs to rethink his life. Believe it or not there is more to life than this little car blog
![]() 03/30/2016 at 12:14 |

What company even made a 276 cubic inch flat head V8?
But I agree that is a beautiful car. Old Model A hot rods are still the pinnacle of hot rodding in my opinion.

Lancia Lambda limousine perhaps. Unibody and independent suspension since 1922! In 1928 it would’ve been powered by a 69 hp 2.6 liter V4.

Sort of. The GDP in the US got destroyed by 32 so a lot of the rich sunk into hardship as well.

Germany tanked worse after 1929 and we stopped propping up Weimar from what I remember.
![]() 03/30/2016 at 16:59 |

I understand but even before 1929 you can’t exactly say Germany was in a great state economically. After the Depression the Weimar crumbled to such chaos that we got a character like Hitler in power.

What is this great draw to the Hupmobile. I don’t get it?
![]() 03/30/2016 at 20:27 |
|
Upscale looks at a moderate price that 1928 me could probably swing. Plus, an available 80hp straight eight, or the standard 57hp straight six that was pretty bullet proof.
![]() 03/31/2016 at 14:22 |
|
Hupmobile in a lot of ways was the American Lexus of the 30s with a little of a Dodge Brothers-esque humility and bigger-than-you-will-ever-need style thrown in. Comfortable, staid, well-performing, reliable entry luxury - with features that innovated - but not a car that was attractive to a car brand brand snob. Easy to overlook for being an appliance, but a really jam-up car. Think an independent Mercury, or what Edsel was trying to shoot for.
